Finca Allende, the estate created by brother and sister team Mercedes and Miguel Angel de Gregorio, is located in the hill town of Briones in the Rioja Alta. Allende means further; its philosophy is to go further and further towards creating the perfect Rioja.
Achieving this is by marrying the old and the new. Embracing the traditional grape varieties but then treating them to new French oak. A further distinguishing characteristic is that Allendes best wines focus on the expression of Riojas varied terroir.
The vines are from the vineyard near Briones and the age average of the vines is 55 years from a high density plantation with bush pruning.
There are clay soils with gravel in depth, sustainable cultivation with respect to the environment. Following the natural cycles of the plant, with organic fertilisers and mechanical work without using herbicides. Manual harvest and the bunches are selected by hand in the winery.
